Dave Flanders, CSLA, RPP

 

 

David works with local practitioners and managers in environmental and land use planning to improve community resilience, address impacts of environmental change, and co-develop strategic community responses including both adaptation and mitigation. He has extensive experience using broad stakeholder engagement processes alongside science-driven 3D and 4D computer visualizations. His current work builds future scenarios of communities that clearly demonstrate realizable strategies for responding to coastal hazards and climate change impacts, improving efficiency in energy use, diversfying energy generation, urban and economic development and resource management while retaining ecosystem health, community character and quality of life. 

 

David Flanders is a landscape architect (CSLA) and registered professional planner (RPP) currently working as a research affiliate with the Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning at the University of British Columbia. He is an adjunct researcher at UBC's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He has taught adult design education in the Faculty of Continuing Studies and has founded several small planning and design consultancies. He has been part of consulting teams throughout Western, Central and North Canada, the Arctic and parts of Latin America.
